Government has been focussing on Doubling Farmers Income and motivating farmers to diversify from wheat and paddy cycle to other farm ventures. Subsidiary occupations like dairy, poultry, vermi composting etc. can be done by farmers to utilise the extra time and resources they have on farm to improve their income from farms.
With the objective to motivate and train rural youth in subsidiary occupations, PAMETI, under the guidance of MANAGE, Hyderabad organised a 6-day training on "Subsidiary Entrepreneurship" under Skill Training on Rural Youth (STRY) from 22 to 27 April, 2024. A total of 16 participants attended this training.
During the inaugural session, Dr K B Singh, Director PAMETI emphasized the need to make the farmers self-reliant by using resources on farms to improve their profitability. The training course included both theory and hands-on-practice sessions. Two exposure visits were also organised to CIPHET, Ludhiana and to Integrated Farming System Model, PAU.
