PAMETI organized training on ‘Subsidiary Enterpreneurship’ under STRY

Government has been focussing on Doubling Farmers Income and motivating farmers to diversify from wheat and paddy cycle to other farm ventures. Subsidiary occupations like dairy, poultry, vermi composting etc. can be done by farmers to utilise the extra time and resources they have on farm to improve their income from farms.


With the objective to motivate and train rural youth in subsidiary occupations, PAMETI, under the guidance of MANAGE, Hyderabad organised a 6-day training on "Subsidiary Entrepreneurship" under Skill Training on Rural Youth (STRY) from 22 to 27 April, 2024. A total of 16 participants attended this training.


During the inaugural session, Dr K B Singh, Director PAMETI emphasized the need to make the farmers self-reliant by using resources on farms to improve their profitability. The training course included both theory and hands-on-practice sessions. Two exposure visits were also organised to CIPHET, Ludhiana and to Integrated Farming System Model, PAU.



PAMETI organizes Training Programme on ‘Crop Diversifications Options in Punjab’ under NMEO-OS

Punjab Agricultural Management and Extension Training Institute (PAMETI) organized a two-day training programme on “Crop Diversification Options in Punjab” under National Mission on Edible Oils-Oil Seeds for Officers/Extension Workers of Dept. of Agriculture and Farmers’ Welfare Amritsar, Punjab from April 04-05, 2024. The training was attended by 17participants.


Dr.K B Singh, Director, PAMETI welcomed the participants and informed them about the importance of crop divesification in the state. He emphasized the need for training the farmers through extension officials, about various feasilble cropping patterns in different parts of the state.


Various experts from Dept. of Plant Breeding & Genetics, Dept. of Agronomy, Dept. of Processing and Food Eng. and Dept. of Entomology, PAU imparted practical knowledge to the participants about cultivation of diversified crops and various oilseeds based cropping systems in Punjab. Trainees also visited Agro Processing unit, PAU where they see the different machines from which oil is extracted, purified and packed. Training concluded with the feedback from the participants.
