Mission of PAMETI

Mission of PAMETI is to facilitate the field staff of the State Department of Agriculture andallied departments (including Markfed, Milkfed and Department of Cooperation) to improve the efficiency of Extension Services through better management by following bottom up, farmer participatory, decentralized planning and control approaches.

Mandate of PAMETI

  1. To function as state level institute to provide extension management input for extension functionaries.
  2. To organize need-based training programmes for middle level and grass root level agriculture and allied subject extension functionaries.
  3. To develop and promote the application of management tools for improving the effectiveness of agricultural extension services through better management of human and material resources.
  4. To publish literature and conduct studies on agriculture management, communication, participatory methodologies, etc. as sequel to the feedback from training programmes.
  5. To provide consultancy in areas like project planning, appraisal, implementation, monitoring and evaluation, etc.
Therefore, PAMETI is the only state level training institute meant for training of the Trainers/Extension functionaries of Agriculture & Allied Departments of the Punjab State.

PAMETI undertakes the capacity building of Middle and Grass root level extension functionaries of various state developmental departments i.e. Agriculture, Animal Husbandry, Horticulture, Soil & Water Conservation, Dairy Development, Forests & Wild life Conservation, Fisheries, ATMA, Department of Cooperation, Markfed, and Milkfed. In addition to this, farmers and officers from KVKs, NGOsand private organizations can also get training.

Other than the mandatory programs planned in the annual training calendar, PAMETI also organizes Induction Trainings for newly appointed officers from each department and Sponsored Training Programmes for skill development of farmers, farm women, farmer user groups, self-help groups,etc.for their livelihood improvement.Different central/state government departments, NGOs, private companies or rural development departmentsetccan send request for capacity building of farmers or their officers under the mandate of their departments to PAMETI at the prescribed fee as per guidelines mentioned in the scheme.

In addition to this, PAMETI also organizes training programmes for farmers under different government schemes such as Skill Training for Rural Youth (STRY) and PradhanMantriKrishiSinchayeeYojana (PMKSY). PAMETI is also conducting diploma programmes sponsored by Ministry of Agriculture & Farmers’ Welfare, GoI, entitled “Post-graduate Diploma in Agricultural Extension Management (PGDAEM)” for extension officials and “One-year Diploma in Agricultural Extension Services for Input Dealers (DAESI)” designed for input dealers of the state.
