
Punjab Agricultural Management and Extension Training Institute (PAMETI) under the overall guidance of Dr Jaswant Singh, Director of Agriculture& Farmers’ Welfare, Punjab has started the induction training programme for184 newly recruited Agriculture Development Officers (ADOs) of the Department of Agriculture and Farmers’ Welfare, Punjab. The programme is designed to be conducted in three batchesfrom August, 11-29, 2025 in offline mode. In the first batch, 61 ADOs attended this induction training.
Dr Jaswant Singh, Director of Agriculture & Farmers’ Welfare, Punjab inaugurated the first batch of training programme and congratulated all the newly appointed officers. He further added that these officers will act as harbinger of change as they will work at the field level and remain in constant touch with the farmers. He motivated the officers to work with full potential and honesty. He explained about pesticide usage in the state, Insecticide Act and its quality control.
Dr K B Singh, Director PAMETI while explaining the objective of the programme said that induction training of newly recruited officers in any organization is very important as during the training they come to know their roles & responsibilities for the organization.
The training included sessions on organizational structure and functioning of the agriculture department and the expected roles of ADOs in that department. Heads (Joint Directors) of various sections/wings of the agriculture department will interact with the trainees and will impart knowledge about the operations of their respective sections. Different acts and rules being enforced by the department in the State regarding agricultural inputs will also be discussed in detail. The training will lead to preparation of the missionary for the welfare of farmers.
In this Induction programme, trainees will interact with the experts and learn about the seed, fertilizer and insecticide testing procedures and various methods of crop residue management developed by PAU.
The trainees appreciated the efforts made by PAMETI faculty and staff and vowed to apply the knowledge learnt from the training in their respective fields.
