About Us
Punjab Agricultural Management & Extension Training Institute (PAMETI) situated at PAU Campus, Ludhiana has played a key role in capacity building of extension workers from agriculture and allied sectors in the field of agricultural management and extension since its inception. PAMETI started functioning on December 6, 2000. Previously, the institute was running under the “Support to State Extension Programs for Extension Reforms (ATMA)” Scheme till March, 2014. In Financial year 2014-15, the Scheme was converted to Sub-Mission on Agricultural Extension (SMAE) which is a part of National Mission on Agricultural Extension & Technology (NMAET). Currently, the institute is running under Krishonnati (Krishi Unnati) Yojna. PAMETI is the only state level training institute meant for training of the Trainers/Extension functionaries of the Agriculture & Allied Departments of the Punjab State.PAMETI undertakes the capacity building of Middle and Grass root level extension functionariesof following developmental departments :
- Department of Agriculture and Farmers’ Welfare,
- Department of Animal Husbandry,
- Department of Horticulture,
- Department of Soil & Water Conservation,
- Department of Dairy Development,
- Department of Forests & Wild life Conservation,
- Department of Fisheries,
- Department of Cooperation,
- MARKFED and
- MILKFED.
At regional level, four Extension Education Institutes (EEIs), situated at Nilokheri, Karnal (North), Jorhat, Assam (East), Anand, Rajasthan (West), and Hyderabad, Telangana (South) caters to the training needs of the Middle Level extension functionaries.
In India, National Institute of Agricultural Management & Extension Training Institute (MANAGE) is the apex body for training of critical manpower in agricultural management & extension. This institute is a response to the imperative need of reorientation and modernization of the agricultural extension system in view of newer policies of liberalization and globalization of the economy and the increasing complexity of level of agricultural technology.

The ultimate goal of the institute is to empower the farming community for improved management of production resources and agricultural operations for better living.
Mission Statement
Mission of PAMETI is to facilitate the field staff of the State agriculture and allied departments to improve the efficiency of extension services through better management by following bottom up, farmer participatory, decentralized planning and control approaches.
